The Spectacular Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz

In the two years since the Eldorado was first introduced by Cadillac, it has won itself a unique place in the hearts of motorist everywhere. Though the Eldorado name originally designated only the convertible model, it will include for 1956 both an open and closed car. The first of these- the spectacular Biarritz- is a true achievement in advanced design and engineering. Its high-sweeping fender lines... its beautiful grille and rear bumper assembly ... its unique "disappearing top" ... its special "Sabre - Spoke" wheels ... its special hood ornament ... its chrome ribbed saddle molding ... and it's many special color options ... give it a beauty all its own. To add still greater glamour, the Biarritz is available with gold wheels and a gold grille. And the Biarritz is powered by a special 305- h.p. Cadillac engine, and offers Cadillac's most advanced features of engineering throughout. In every way, it is a true masterpiece of Cadillac craftsmanship.

Roster Update #12

Hi All,

We have a new one for the roster and updated info on another car currently on the roster.  Plus another video with a '56 Eldorado in it and a quick look at scale models.

Body #1147 is the latest addition to the roster. This one hails from Texas but was originally from Ohio.
Go to the Chantilly Maroon page to learn what color this car originally was.
Click here, http://1956eldorado.blogspot.com/p/chantilly-maroon.html

Body #1450 recently sold for $200k. A nice numbers matching car with a fresh restoration. Best of luck to the new owner. When you consider the $286k record price for a Bahama blue '56 eldo from a few years back. One could say, this one was well bought!
Go to the Mandan Red page to see more pics and info on this one

Check out this great vintage video from LA in 1956 on Youtube. Pay attention to the cars parked on the right hand side of the road. At the one minute mark there is a 1956 Eldorado Seville and a starlight silver 1956 Eldorado Biarritz parked together!!  Enjoy! (no sound)

Did you see the recent auction for a scale model of a '56 Eldo that sold for $620 ?!? Apparently this is a rare model made in Italy by the Mercury Company.

Click on pictures to enlarge;

A little crude for my taste but I can appreciate the rarity of this model. It's the first time I have seen one in black.

There is also a model made by Revell which could be had for a lot less than $620 dollars. Revell first offered this model in 1956 and then again 40 years later in 1996. As you can see the box size is different but the model was the same;

An original 1956 Revell kit
A 1996 Revell second addition kit
Box comparison, the '96 box is on the bottom, 1956 box on top with the built model from the box.
Wouldn't it be great if our cars went together this easily? As you can see in the breakdown,  this model also comes with a set of figurines.
That's all for this update. Thank you all for the contributions to this roster. Please keep the info coming. The warm weather is here. Go enjoy your ride!
