The Spectacular Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz

In the two years since the Eldorado was first introduced by Cadillac, it has won itself a unique place in the hearts of motorist everywhere. Though the Eldorado name originally designated only the convertible model, it will include for 1956 both an open and closed car. The first of these- the spectacular Biarritz- is a true achievement in advanced design and engineering. Its high-sweeping fender lines... its beautiful grille and rear bumper assembly ... its unique "disappearing top" ... its special "Sabre - Spoke" wheels ... its special hood ornament ... its chrome ribbed saddle molding ... and it's many special color options ... give it a beauty all its own. To add still greater glamour, the Biarritz is available with gold wheels and a gold grille. And the Biarritz is powered by a special 305- h.p. Cadillac engine, and offers Cadillac's most advanced features of engineering throughout. In every way, it is a true masterpiece of Cadillac craftsmanship.

Body # 56, Trim# 16, Top 1, ACC-PHS. Two upper photos from CLC Grand National 1990. Fully restored by owner. Sold to current owner in Arizona in 2005. UPDATE 3/2019 offered for sale at Mecum auction Phoenix. Reserve not met.  


Body #175, Trim #16, Top #1, ACC-EH. Sweden, 2013.


Body #187, Trim #16, Top #5, ACC- EH, car was purchased from New York in 2009 and is now in Sweden. 2012 


Body #282, Trim #16, Top #1, ACC- EHKS, Gold wheels and grille. Autronic Eye. Every possible option is on this car. Confirmed via built sheet. Shipped to LA on November 23,1955.  Bought on Ebay from Arizona 2014. Rust free body and is now in Wisconsin. Full restoration is underway. UPDATE: Body #282 is now complete and on the show circuit. 4/2016. UPDATE: Now sold and part of a private collection in Wisconsin. 12/2016 


Body# 388, Trim 16, Top 5, ACC-EHS. On ebay in 2005 and sold to a Finland buyer. Project was too much for the new owner and he sold it in 2007 to another collector in Finland. The car is now fully restored and in Finland 2011.


BDY #401, Trim #16, Top #5, ACC-EHSK, Factory air conditioned car. UPDATED 4/2012. Rescued from a field in Arkansas in 1991 and later sent to a restoration shop in Oklahoma(lower right pic) where things did not go well. The owner pulled the car from the shop and the car was finished at the hands of the owner in California. Body #891, Trim 16, Top #1, ACC- EHKS. This car was built on Jan 31, 1956 and shipped to LA. It stayed in California until 1991 when it became part of a private collection in NY. With the exception of a repaint this car is all original and driven on a regular basis by the current owner. 10/2013.


BDY #1324, Trim #16, Top #5, ACC-EH, a Wisconsin car that was sold in 2005 to a Belgium collector. In this collection is one of every 50's Eldorado. The owner declares that this car is one of his favorite cars.  Belgium 2012.  


BDY# 1452, Trim# 16, Top#1, ACC-EH. Canadian car offered for sale in 2008 and again in 2011 for $45k with the following description... "Original New West, BC car with one repaint in correct colours and numbers matching. Car had dual 4 barrel carbs rated at 325 horse ( stock on this model ), has gold package ( real anodized gold grille, wheels etc ) This is a GM recognized milestone car with 2150 produced. This is first year of Biarritz designation. This is a #4 driver that eventually deserves full restoration."

BODY #1575, Trim #16, Top #1, ACC EH. Built on April 3, 1956 and shipped to San Francisco. This car was one of the first cars on the roster, it was painted white as you can see in the picture and I had it listed as being in Holland as of 2002.  It is currently undergoing a complete restoration back to it's original color and trim at a shop in the Netherlands. 10/2013 


BODY #1923, Trim #16, Top #1, ACC-EH, Built on May 15th, 1956 and shipped to a distributor in Ottawa, Canada. It was sold new in Vancouver and stayed with the same family till about 1990. It then went through two more owners in the Vancouver/Seattle area and was then sold to a collector in Bellevue, WA. This owner finished up most of the restoration work and then sold the car on ebay to it's current owner in Buffalo, NY in May of 2011. 


Trim# 16, Top# 1, Ebay 2005 Solid green interior. 


Offered for sale in England, 2011. Described as such...."Delightfully finished in metallic Opal Green with a contrasting white leather interior, this is believed to be the 8th car off the 1956 year production line and is described by the vendor as being in excellent condition throughout. Estimate: £70,000 - £80,000". Chassis # on file.
